With the regular season in the books, the seeding is all set for the 2nd edition of Motor City Madness at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
When Valparaiso, playing without their star Alec Peters, was tripped up at Northern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon, Oakland claimed the #1 seed for the first time by knocking off Milwaukee at the Klotsche Center to claim their first Horizon League regular season title. The Crusaders will share the regular season title with Oakland but will be the tournament's #2 seed due to being swept by the Grizzlies during the regular season.
The two teams will get a bye into the second round on Saturday afternoon with Oakland taking on either #7 seed Detroit Mercy or #10 seed Milwaukee and Valparaiso taking on the winner of the #8 seed Cleveland State / #9 seed Youngstown State game. Those first round games will take place Friday evening.
Green Bay is the #3 seed after defeating Detroit Mercy at the Resch Center on Sunday. They will face off with UIC at 4:00 on Sunday in the second round while Northern Kentucky (#4 seed) and Wright State (#5 seed) will square off at 6:30 Sunday. The two winners on Sunday will face the two winners from Saturday, likely the top two seeds, in the semifinals on Monday night.
The Horizon League championship game is 6:00 PM Tuesday on ESPN.
